The in-laws told me about this store that just screamed my name, Vintage Stock. A store with DVD's, comics, toys, display cases, everything I'm into! I grab my wimpy versions of "Pan's Labyrinth" & "Fantastic 4" and the awful "Let's Go to Prison" & trade them in for "Caught Up": A thrilling action movie about a man fresh outta prison after his second strike. He's trying to go straight, but ends up involved with a devious woman who posseses natural psychic abilities. Outside of "Strapped" (When is THAT movie coming to DVD?!), this is probably Bokeem Woodbine's best performance. And "Unbreakable": This was a movie that took me a couple of viewings before I could decide if I liked it or not. I liked it even more after each viewing, so it's library worthy.
I actually only replaced these movies. I gave "Unbreakable" to my father-in-law a few months ago as a kinda olive branch to mend our shaken relationship & some jerk stole "Caught Up" from me. They left the case & took the DVD. So I have no clue how long ago they took off with it. One night I decided I wanted to watch it, opened the case, & I let out a scream of pain that had the cops bangin' on the door believeing me to have been murdered! They were none too pleased with my reason for such an ear-piercing scream, but it certainly felt like somebody just stabbed me in the back! A message for the theif, just in case you're reading this: GO BUY YOUR OWN!!!!!

Grindhouse presents "Death Proof"
What did you think of it FragileKidA?
I Liked it to a point. The action scenes were damn awsome. But I just didn't work as a Grindhouse film. I mean have the quirky film by all means, but for clucks sake, dont set in a world with Red Bull or mobile phones!! I hated the feel of it like that. PLus the strange fact that a Italian copy of Vogue was so highly valued. The dialogue ( of which there is much ) was no where near to being up to scratch. The one line was of course " Which way were you going" " Right " " Ah that's a shame"......Now that was pure genius, but just not enough of it.
The last car chase was however mind blowing and one which I hope Zoe Bell will prosper from. The ironic thing is of course, being a star now (and the US insurance being complete kill joys), she wont be able to perform her amazing stunts herself.
So in a nutshell, liked it, but it had some big flaws. Bring on Planet Terror.

Found on a used vhs: Shag, starring Bridget Fonda & Phoebe Cates. How many times was this flick repeated on HBO to no end? But Fonda & Cates are always nice to watch.

I saw this movie of course with Planet Terror, and I enjoyed it more in the theaters. I thought the missing reel was a very funny part in the Grindhouse experience. And the new black and white sequence was cool, but I liked the original better. Not to say this movie isn't a definite must see, because I think this movie should be missed by no one. Quentin Tarantino is my favorite director and the best in my opinion. His writing is second to none and he really shows this in Death Proof. Many people said this movie suffered because Quentin tried to force dialogue in it. I disagree, I loved every minute of it. If only I had Planet Terror and the trailers to watch in front of it though. I truly feel sorry for the people that weren't able to view this movie in the theaters. Because that is where Grindhouse succeeded.
Pulp Fiction (1994)
Jules: Normally, both your asses would be dead as fucking fried chicken, but you happen to pull this shit while I'm in a transitional period so I don't wanna kill you, I wanna help you. But I can't give you this case, it don't belong to me. Besides, I've already been through too much shit this morning over this case to hand it over to your dumb ass.
They need to make up for the money they lost on it. Grindhouse is still my #2, and I know it's your #1, but the moneymen can do what they want to screw with the true movie lovers.
Hey crazed, why don't you mosey over to the Chatroom. That's an Open Invitation to all!

plus also it's only just been released in the cinema in the UK, and the reason given by Quentin was so that he can go around the world premoting it. ie it's not made that much money in the US so he has to try and crawl some back
I forgot to check my Columbia House account and they sent me "Blades of Glory" ("I'll get inside your face!"). I haven't watched it all the way through, but what I did see cracked me up! I completely lost it when Ferrell hurled in his friggin' mask! I didn't really wanna pay 25 bucks for it, but oh well . I also got the 10th season of 'The Simpsons' ("WHOO-HOO!"), the 2nd season of 'The Tick' animated series ("SPOON!"), and last, but certainly NOT least, Grindhouse presents "Death Proof" ("I guess you're gonna haveta start getting scared... immediatly!") !

So, crazed, you mean it's got the original and the 1965 remake shot in color? That would be fun to watch those back-to-back. Totally different reasons for those two movies to exist.
