I'm anxious to see Queen of Outer Space first. It's been ages since I last saw it. But before that, the must-watch dvd this weekend is the Del Tenney Double Feature of The Horror of Party Beach and The Curse of the Living Corpse. Party Beach features some surf rockers named The Del-Aires who perform "The Zombie Stomp". Now that's hog heaven!

I have seen those Tenney "classics", but my god, I didn't even realize that Roy Scheider was the lead in The Curse of the Living Corpse. I probably saw it on Seymour's "Fright Night" when I was maybe 14, not really all that long after it was at the theatre!! And that was probably the last time. (Almost 40 years ago.)
EDITED!

I've haven't seen The Curse of the Living Corpse though I'm "dying" to. It was The Horror of Party Beach that drew me in. I saw it on Sammy Terry's "Nightmare Theatre" back in the mid '80s. About five years ago, I found a taped VHS of that very show, featuring Sammy Terry, 1980s commercials and a somewhat fuzzy movie. Extreme cheese alert for film content, but so much fun to watch.

It's been longer than I can recall since I last saw Dementia 13. I did have it on dvd for awhile but the disc was defective (two movies on the disc and both were unplayable after the opening credits). I loved the atmosphere (great castle sets) and it's a film I confuse with another from Roger Corman (can't recall which one). I first saw it when I was really into Hammer films and it felt like a Hammer film, at least by the theme and the atmosphere. Hmmm...now I want to hunt down a decent copy and see it again.

Another gem collection arrived today -"Werewolves". A double disc, five werewolf film set. Features Scream of the Wolf (1974), Moon of the Wolf (1972), Wolfman (1982), The Werewolf of Washington (1973) and The Werewolf vs. the Vampire Woman (1970). The latter film is part of the Paul Naschy, Spanish werewolf series, and the only one of the series I've seen. Looks like some fun viewing ahead.

Werewolves never recieved the proper film respect they deserve. I would have loved Hammer Films to have had a werewolf series. I hope Universal does right when they remake the Wolfman next year (starring Benicio Del Toro in Lon Chaney's role).

"The Secret of NIMH" has finally come out in WIDESCREEN!!!!! Oh, man, it's about friggin' tme! I bought the full screen version years ago & have made sure to check every single one out there to see if maybe they put out the more desired widescreen version I've been longing for. I went out with the wife today & we stopped at Toys R Us to pick up "potty training incentives" when I saw "The Secret of NIMH" just sitting on a shelf. As always, I picked it up, flipped it over & checked to see if, today, I would get my miracle & BAM! I did !!!!! I now know how Maverick felt when he pulled that Ace of Spades . It also has a featurette & a commentary by Don Bluth & Gary Goldman ! My wife got, ugh , "The Man in the Iron Mask" with Leonardo DiCrapio.
Why does my life even out the way it does? I finally find a DVD I have been really wanting, & on the same day, my wife picks up a movie I find unbearable to sit through!

Solid pick-up, Monkey! I'll have to go and find it myself. I picked up The Protector starring Tony Jaa the other day. I'm a big martial arts fan, and Jaa is F-ing insane!

He does indeed rock!! Sod off Jet li I fact I'm going to watch Ong Bak right now. Though the screaming, whining, oh my god such an annoying voice girl in it spoils it. And for the record I'll be watching the subbed version. Dubs suck soooo bad. IMO
I just got Peter Jacksons Braindead. Greatest gore film ever evar!!
and for something completely different a 11 disc Cirque Du Soleil box set
Well, I just got another shipment of DVD's in the mail! I've read that some of you aren't into DVD's for the special features, but for the movie. I, on the other hand, gotta have the "extras"! I used to own quite a few of these movies on VHS & the only thing that excited me about DVD technology was the fact you could learn more about them. It wasn't until AFTER I got a DVD player, that I realized how much better the picture & sound were. I'm not into the promotional, 5-10 minute "making of" featurettes, but into the 1-4 hour documentaries that delve into story development, creature designs, set construction, etc. Pretty much what you get in the Star Wars Saga", "The Lord of the Rings" extended cuts, "Hellboy" Director's Cut, & the "Alien Quadrilogy".
Soooo, this is why I finally grabbed the special editions of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" & "Pan's Labyrinth". I also got back "Sleepy Hollow" (which was lost to me quite awhile ago. Why do people gotta steal?) I finally got the original movies I've been wanting to grab since the remakes hit the scene: "The Time Machine" (1960), "King Kong" (1933), & "War of the Worlds" (1953). Oh, and of course, I got "300". I'm a tad upset because I had ordered the extended cut of "Coming to America" & the 20th Anniversary of "Monster Squad", but they are currently outta stock! I'm also waiting for "Ghost World" (a comic-based movie), 'Sledge Hammer': Season 2, "Let's go to Prison" (I love GOB (Will Arnett)! He's just absolutely hilarious!), "Hot Fuzz", & the prequel to "Pan's Labyrinth", "The Devil's Backbone". Yeah, the wife wasn't happy at all . I just can't help it! DVD's are my crack!
WHOA! Get your mind outta the gutter! I wouldn't do THAT for a DVD! Weeeeell, maybe for an ultra special edition director's cut of "Battlefield Earth"! I gotta have more of CAVEMEN FLYING HARRIER JETS!

NO! It isn't! You mean I coulda got 2 movies for the price of one?! What's up with that?! I guess Columbia House doesn't carry it. The version I have has 2 commentaries & a documentary. I wonder if that one has all that, too? Do you know if it does? If it does, you gotta a heck of a deal!

I'm not sure about those extras, I'll have to check when it arrives.
I rarely watch added features on dvds, but I see you picked up the original Time Machine which has some nice extras. The history of the time machine prop and the Rod Taylor-Alan Young reunion. 'Course, the best thing about the film is Yvette Mimieux.
