I DID GET "PAN'S LABYRINTH" TODAY!!!!!!!!!! They put it in it's own package & the mailman stuck it in the mailbox. I had just seen the big box sitting on the porch & didn't even think of checking the mailbox for the single movie I was missing. After I put the kids down for the night, I'll be watching it. Sadly, no english dubb. Dag. Why don't they do that anymore? I understand why they left "The Passion" in arimaic, but why not give us an english version of "Pan's Labyrinth"? Well, at least it's in 6.1 DTS ! I love me some DTS. By the way, I ordered the bare bones version by accident, can anyone tell me if the 2-disk special features are gonna be worth the trouble of me sending it back for a trade-in?

I rented the two-disc from Blockbuster and it looks juicy, but I haven't watched the special features yet. Wow, Monkey, I really hope you love that movie. The whole thing is tremendous, but the photography, editing, sound and music really pull you in.

I got the Korean vesrion, about 5000 made. Comes in an ace leather book look case. Think the extras are the same though. Got a metal bookmark with it and a book with artwork/sketches from the film. Not seen it yet but might over the weekend. Also @ Monkey_Boy, you like dubbed voice overs!? Eeew. Cant stand them myself.

I just find subtitles distracting most of the time. Especially, in action flicks. There are times when I was reading what the characters were saying & then completely missed some quick move that ended the fight. Also, I'm a fast reader & they tend to leave subtitles up a tad too long. I'll read the same line 4 times, thinking that it was something new, especially when the angle changes & the subtitles stay. English dubs can be done well. Sometimes, yeah they do stink, like, in most japanese releases. But there are times that you couldn't really tell, like in "Final Fantasy: Advent Children" or "Kung Fu Hustle".

Besides the fact that I think that movie is hilarious, the dubbing they did in English is even more funny and not even believable. It adds a special bit of humor though when you watch the movie with English subtitles and the English dubbing. If I remember correctly the subtitles don't match up with the dubbing and it's quite funny.

It doesn't match at all! I've watched it in both versions & there are some jokes they don't say in the subtitles!

lol, Ive never tried that. I just cannot stand dubs in live films. Manga, etc it is not so bad as generally it fits the mouths better ( dont ask me why ) also I find the narrative to be quicker and more, well just weird. Akira is a good example of where dubbed is a better way to go. But in live action, espesh where it's a emtional film like Crouching Tiger or Bangkok Killers a dubbed version just completely ruins the whole feeling. But a friend of mine completely hates subs, so each to their own. Man, like this is way off topic lol. So restore it I just got Cirque Du Soleil Annversary boxset. Not strictly a film, but it is my most recent DVD purchase.

Just this past week I bought my girlfriend El Laberinto del fauno, 2-disc Special Edition for her birthday. Today we picked up The 40-year-old Virgin, Double Your Pleasure Edition. I sold my regular edition back and was able to buy this very funny movie. It comes equipped with a movie ticket to Knocked Up which is getting great reviews and we plan to watch it soon.

Think that film is ace. Film really need a commentary track though. Does this " |Double your pleasure edition" have one FragileKidA?

I haven't gotten around to seeing this yet snige and the case doesn't mention anything about commentaries. However, I did own the Unrated Version DVD (the one I sold) and that one included a feature-length commentary track with Judd Apatow, Steve Carell and several other members of the cast. So I am sure this one must have that one, if not, some extra ones.

Woo-hoo! I finally own the "prequel" to "Serenity"! I just got 'Firefly' on DVD! Tonight I'll be starting my 'Firefly' Marathon, ending with the movie. Ahhhhh, is there any better day than Father's Day? By the way, mark f, I was wrong. It's 14 episodes, NOT 12 or 13 like I had originally thought. I guess it would take too long to watch the entire series!

Well, I didn't purchase it, but I just got "The Innocents". I've never seen it, but I'm told it'll scare my colon clean. (We'll just see about that!) And while I was out today, I picked up "Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut". It's 11 minutes shorter than the original, but it's back in the capable hands of Richard Donner. He got screwed outta doing it the first time, even though they filmed BOTH movies at the same time! What's up with that?
