This was easily the worst movie I have ever seen, and I don't feel this way simply because it looked terrible and probably had a budget of 10 bucks. First off, the acting was abysmal, and it was English dubbed over French or something and they did such a poor job of it that it was like watching an old Kung Fu movie with a little masturbation thrown in (and it didn't add a damn thing). This film was not in the least bit scary; it was one of those that's so immediately violent yet predictable that all you could really do was laugh...except that after the first 10 minutes, you'd lost your will to live and it is really hard to laugh at that point.

The worst part is that the film was such a blatant rip off of a really terrific book. Dean Koontz published a novel called Intensity years ago (and yes there is a movie as well). This book was terrifying and creepy, and for those who enjoy horror as much as I do, it was downright beautiful in all its creepiness. High Tension completely ripped off Intensity, and not just in the title. Pretty much everything in the first half of the film (save for some overly gory parts that Dean Koontz didn't need to add to his novel) was taken word for word from this book. Everything down to the exact moment the killer turned on a lightswitch was blatantly ripping off Intensity. I don't know if the second half of the movie continued this cycle since I didn't walk, but ran out of there as fast as my legs could carry me, but I would bet anything that the second half sucked as much as the first half did. It made me sick, not only because a movie this terrible might actually make it into the theaters, but because these people got away with blatantly ripping off an extremely talented novelist.
