I have a quick question for the moderators. I tried to start a new poll but when I tried this is what showed up:

You have not been given the permission(s) to access this page. You require the following rights to view this page: 'Create Polls (Generally)'. For a full list of permissions you have on this community, please visit your MySpace Permissions page.

Is it just me, or can we no longer start new polls? And how do I get to the "MySpace Permissions" page?

My current main board's future may be in the air, and I'm scouting for good places to put down other roots.

Anyway, lot of good stuff here, but there are far, far too many forums. A healthy board requires interaction, and that is best achieved by concentrating the members in a few forums. Having separate forums for genres, franchises, directors, etc. is going to fracture the board population and that's especially going to be a hindrance to building a good group of regular posters and a quality board. My two cents.

I think the Star Wars, GTA, Lord of the Rings forums are a bit superfluous, but I quite like the idea of having a lot of forums. It might not seem that valuable now, but when the traffic here picks up, itll show its advantages.

K-Dog, you should be able to create a poll. I'm not a good tech person, so I'm not sure if I can help you ... I also am not equipped to go check your permissions. I just did a test and I can create a poll.

Try again and if you still can't, post again and I will have someone look at your permissions and see if something got turned off on your profile.

You can look at your permissions by going into your profile and there is a sidebar where "Permissions" is listed. You should be able to go into that and see what you can and can't do. So you can also look there and see if your permission to create polls somehow got turned off.

HAHAHAHA! Yeah I think someone actually turned it off (I assume it was the Music Editor). It shows that I no longer have permission to create polls. I can only guess that it was the result of my attempt at creating a massive "favorite director" poll, which pissed off the Music Editor.

KT, or any other moderators for that matter, you think you could turn that back on? Thanks.

Ah ha ... well I can't turn it on, I only have certain powers and that's not one of them. But I will let the Music Editor know that you are repentant and wish to create a poll, because I think he has to turn it back on for you.

(sigh)

Alright, this is getting really old, really fast. I'm sitting here at work, bored out of my mind, and would very much like to start a new poll having to do with the Marvel films because these movie forums barely have a pulse.

The rubber-band ball in front of me isn't getting any bigger, so can someone please just give me back poll permission? It's been like three weeks already (though I haven't actually tried starting a poll until a couple of days ago).

If the "Favorite Director" poll offended you that much, then I apologize (even though I did nothing wrong...). Now that I've humiliated myself by bending over and taking it in the a**, can some administrator take two seconds out of their lives to click the mouse in front of them a few times and give me back my poll rights? Jesus.

"You said it man. No one f*cks with the Jesus!"

Oh come on! What did I do now???

I can understand why my "create poll" rights were taken away (though it truly was very unjust) but my "create DISCUSSION" rights??? Are you serious?

What did I do to deserve this unfair treatment? I'm sorry but this really is a putrid heap of bullsh*t.

Can someone out there please vouch for me and tell these Editors/Moderators that I haven't created a SINGLE "bad" thread?

This is just insulting.

Hopefully this is an honest mistake. Not only is this my favorite website, but I've also been a regular poster on the forums for about three months, and now I get my posting rights taken away? And for what? I HAVE NO IDEA.

I can't believe this sh*t.

Im going to have to agree with K-Dog on this one. He may have been in his fair share of arguments (with me including) but, c'mon, taking away both his POLL AND DISCUSSION rights?! Thats a lil much yknow. Im doing this for two reasons.

One, I dont want this to be a regular thing. Post too many polls. You dont get poll rights! Wha?

Two, I dont really feel like reading another post that has that damn tagline!

I hope me sticking up for him doesnt result in ME losing MY poll rights! Then, there will be hell to pay!!!!

I think this is a technical glitch & not an intentional thing. I've asked the site designer to look into it. We wouldn't take away rights like unless there were some serious rules violations going on, and K-Dog certainly hasn't reached that point. I'll see if we can get this fixed. Hang in there.

K-Dog, please check to see if you are able to start both polls and discussions. You are supposed to be able to do both now. The discussion block was a mistake, but you should have all the permissions which you originally had. If you still have problems, post it here or private message MC Music. We are looking forward to some interesting new threads.

Ah, thank you very much. Eccentro, mark f, Games editor, I appreciate your cooperatation and help. I am now good as new.

Now for an unrelated question:

How did mark f become a forum moderator? Do you automatically become one when you become an apprentice guru or was he "knighted" or something? (Not that I have any problems with that, I was just wondering)

Mad, LinnTate and I were asked to become "Forum Moderators" about 3 weeks ago to help out around the site, so I guess we were "knighted." I have a question for you. Do you check your personal e-mail or your Personal Messages at this site? I sent you a message concerning this and never got a reply. It shows up here and you get an e-mail too. There's no need to reply now, but you could always check it and reply to me through your My Space- Personal Messaging, if you wish. I'm glad it has been all worked out.

This message has been edited. Last edited by: mark f,

I cleaned a lot of the mess in here, the “General Movie Discussion” forums. If you posted about a specific movie in here, it has been moved to the appropriate forum. For example, the No Country for Old Men discussion on the ending was moved to the “Best of 2007” forums, I Am Legend ending was moved to “Action/Adventure,” the discussion on a Halo film was moved to the “Sci-Fi & Fantasy” forums, etc. Please use the search tool or browse the forums to look for them.

Some tips, requests and suggestions:

• We do have a lot of members that know a lot about films and these forums do get visited by many guests. The neater we keep them, the easier they are to browse, the easier they are to post on, the easier it is to get good discussions going. If you have a new movie, director or anything you want to talk about, please post about it in the appropriate forum.
• Take a few minutes to look at some of the back pages and see if there are possible live topics that you would like to contribute to.
• If you are posting a new thread please use the search tool before you create the thread. There really is no purpose to have multiple threads on identical films.
• If you find a trailer or interesting tidbit to a new film, don’t make a new thread, add it to an appropriate existing thread. For example, if you find the trailer to the new Batman flick, post about it in the “Comic-Based Films” thread.
• If you have questions about a movie’s score, the forums or anything semi-related, ask it here. Please do not make a new thread about it.
• If you see something that needs to be deleted, closed or moved feel free to post about it in the thread you see it in. One of us moderators will see it and will take the appropriate action. You may also PM us with any questions/concerns.

I hope all of this helps, thanks.

I have bumped some great threads that worthy members have created that haven’t seen much action lately. I know we have a new batch of members and maybe they’d like to share their opinions in a few of these threads.

I would especially advocate those three, people! Pay attention por favor.

Thank you FKA! This place needed a some organizing. It must have taken awhile. I love this part of the forums and hopefully other people will like being here more often. All of the suggestions are excellent. Thank you so much.

It should be noted that I pretty much have this thread covered when it comes to ALL THINGS COMIC-MOVIE RELATED. Wink Fer instance, I noticed someone wanted to spark up a thread on "Hellboy II"... well I've already posted links to the website, pics and trailers down there! I'm open to discuss whatever ya want that's comic-related, it's why I created the thread, but I also enjoy sharing news and rumors I discover on 'em throughout the week. I'm just typing that it isn't a "news/rumors only" thread. Feel free to jump in at anytime. Smiler
